Data-Driven Workforce Solutions in Public Health
ResourcesSession Summary
Public health agencies are harnessing workforce data to drive smarter planning and management decisions. This session showcases how the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and Dallas County Health and Human Services are transforming workforce insights into action. Colorado’s Program & Capability Mapping framework standardizes job roles and data structures across agencies, integrating workforce, program, and capability data into a unified system. This infrastructure enables a deep understanding of the workforce and models what data modernization looks like in daily practice. Dallas County’s Public Health Workforce Tool enhances data accuracy, tracks vacancies in real time, and strengthens managerial engagement. Together, these approaches demonstrate how data systems can improve efficiency, inform planning, and strengthen the public health workforce pipeline.
