Strategies to Strengthen the Capacity of the Public Health Workforce
ResourcesSession Summary
This session highlights two unique approaches to workforce development made possible through PHIG funding. The Alabama Department of Public Health will share how its Workforce Development team responded to early training needs by launching grant management sessions and expanding professional development opportunities. Through PHIG technical assistance, the Kentucky Department of Public Health worked in partnership with the Northwest Center for Public Health Practice (NWCPHP) to develop Stories and Science from the Field: Foundations in Environmental Health, a first-of-its-kind digital training series tailored specifically to the needs of today’s environmental public health workforce. Together, these presentations will offer insight into how targeted training efforts can strengthen organizational capacity and foster collaboration across public health systems.
