As AI tools become embedded across the public health sector, there is a need for grounded, practical guidance on how to evaluate, adopt, and sustain AI tools in a government public health context, with honest attention to what works and what doesn’t. This six-part peer learning series is designed for practitioners, not technologists. Every session is built around decisions that health department staff and leaders actually face: What are we ready for? What should our policy say? Which use cases are worth pursuing? How do we buy smart? How do we reach the people we’re missing? How do we make this last? Each session pairs a practical didactic framework with a real-world case study from a health department that has navigated the same terrain. The learning series is hosted by the Louisiana Public Health Institute (LPHI) and Health Resources in Action (HRiA).
