In an era where accurate patient identification is crucial, the Master Person Index (MPI) plays a vital role in enhancing patient matching and integrating data across key public health information systems. This session explores the experiences of four recipients of the CDC’s Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG) at various stages of MPI implementation. Los Angeles County will share insights from its Request for Proposal (RFP) phase, while Pennsylvania and Virginia will discuss onboarding strategies and successes, including Virginia’s 92% reduction in time-to-analysis for matching patients with death records. Washington highlights their successful MPI launch, showcasing improvements in workflow efficiency and patient matching accuracy. Attendees gain practical strategies and lessons learned to support their own MPI initiatives, ultimately advancing data accuracy and enhancing public health efforts.
