This document outlines how the National Association of Community Health Workers (NACHW) reviewed workforce recommendations, engaged Community Health Worker (CHW) network leaders, and developed consensus-based guidance to strengthen state public health departments’ implementation of the Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG). Its purpose is to ensure CHW expertise, values, and evidence-based approaches are meaningfully integrated into workforce development; benefiting CHWs, their networks, and local communities.
