SUMMARY:Strengthening Academic Health Department Partnerships: Workforce Pathways in California
DESCRIPTION:Join ASTHO and the Public Health Foundation (PHF) for an insightful webinar exploring the power of academic health department (AHD) partnerships. \nIn this session\, participants will gain a foundational understanding of AHD partnerships and hear how Public Health Institute (PHI) Center for Health Leadership & Impact\, supported by The California Endowment\, developed the California Academic Health Department (CAHD) initiative. \nThe CAHD initiative successfully bridged the gap between local health departments and academic programs of public health to create a structured workforce pathway system. By connecting emerging graduates with meaningful applied experience\, they’ve built a sustainable system for transitioning new professionals into public health careers. Join us to learn proven strategies for building academic-practice partnerships that cultivate a workforce ready to serve their communities. \nLearning objectives: \n1. Identify three key features of a successful workforce pathway program. \n2. Describe strategies to build lasting partnerships between academic institutions and health departments to improve employment outcomes. \nMeet the Speakers: \n\nKarya Lustig\, MA\, ISS\, Director\, PHI Center for Health Leadership & Impact\nAmy Max\, MPH\, Division Director\, PHI Center for Health Leadership & Impact\nMayela Arana\, MPH\, CPH\, CHES\, Senior Program Manager\, Workforce Development\, PHF\n\nNote: Registrants will need to log in or create a free ASTHO account. \nQuestions? For more information about this webinar\, please contact Mayela Arana at marana@phf.org. \nWant More? Join the AHD Learning Community to be notified of future webinars or visit the AHD Learning Community online to explore previous webinars and other freely available resources to support developing and enhancing AHD partnerships. \n*** \nThe AHD Learning Community brings together public health and healthcare professionals to share AHD knowledge and experiences and work collaboratively to create resources and tools to support the development\, maintenance\, and expansion of AHD partnerships. The AHD Learning Community is an initiative of the Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice. Visit the AHD Learning Community webpage or contact Mayela Arana at marana@phf.org for more information.
