DESCRIPTION:This presentation is designed to equip participants with the foundational knowledge and practical tools needed to begin a career in public service. Speakers will provide an overview of local\, state\, and federal government careers in 2026\, including hiring trends\, common roles\, and key entry points. Participants will also explore a sample career pathway in public health\, with concrete examples of position titles\, progression opportunities\, and potential employers across different levels of government. \nThe session will include a brief introduction to Volcker Alliance resources\, including GovReady\, a centralized platform for discovering hundreds of public sector internships and fellowship opportunities nationwide. Attendees are encouraged to submit questions in advance or during the session\, covering topics such as types of government jobs\, what to expect during the application and hiring process\, or status of the federal hiring. \nBy the end of this 45-minute webinar\, participants will be able to: \n\nUnderstand the structure\, scale\, and landscape of the government workforce\nIdentify common entry points into public service careers\nRecognize potential career pathways\, particularly in public health\nNavigate key tools and platforms (such as GovReady) to find opportunities\nDetermine actionable next steps toward pursuing a government career\n\n
